Wolfgang Steininger

Because he's a product of Germany, you might deduce that Wolfgang is a precise, punctual, quality-driven individual. And you would be correct. But look under the hood and you’ll find there’s more to Wolfgang than the standard German clichés. Born and raised in Munich, his future was actually forged in the UK, where he studied international business and had his eyes opened to the world.

After working for Germany’s leading CRM implementation firm, Wolfgang expanded his vision to China. To get there, he came to Portland State University, which offered an MBA in international management with a focus on Asia. After a trip to China, Wolfgang changed direction. He made a U-turn, returned to Portland “Munich on the Willamette" and embarked upon a career as a business consultant.

As he has risen in his career, Wolfgang has amassed a wide scope of expertise. In addition to German, English and some Chinese, he speaks the languages of operations, marketing, CRM, and supply chain management (SCM). In short, Wolfgang is fluent in all aspects of business consulting. A sampling of his project experience includes a benchmark study for Guinness on the impact of promotional events on regional sales; design and implementation of order and planning processes for BMW; assessments of supply-chain risks for Freightliner and Chrysler; and inventory optimization for PPM Wind. He has also assisted with academic research on advanced supply-chain design and enjoys speaking on project management and strategy at schools in the U.S. and Europe.

When ACME was honored as one of the Best Places to Work in Portland, the ever- observant Wolfgang took notice. It wasn’t long before he joined our ranks and began applying his wide-ranging expertise on behalf of ACME clients. Beyond work, Wolfgang serves on the Board of Directors for the local chapter of APICS – a global organization focused on operations management. He was recently awarded “Volunteer of the Year,” which surprises us not one whit. For fun, he runs the trails of Forest Park, goes camping or cooks at home (venturing far beyond brats and sauerkraut).
