Sunil Kasturi

Sunil Kasturi

Sunil Kasturi was born and raised in India. When he was 11, his parents sent him to the United States for a three-month vacation - alone. While he was permitted to stay with host families scattered across the country, for the most part, Sunil was on his own. The purpose of his trip was to teach him how to thrive and be self-sufficient - to not merely cope with being tossed into unfamiliar waters, but also learn to enjoy it. The adventure changed his life forever and for the better. Blazing his own trails ever since, he has orchestrated great achievements in both his personal and professional life.

Sunil has more than 10 years of experience in technology innovation, information technology transformation and operational improvement and program management leadership. Particularly adept at running large teams to deliver high quality results, he has created solutions and opportunities for numerous Fortune 100 companies in the consumer and enterprise software industries. Sunil can carry a new product from strategy creation and implementation all the way through to development and launch. He has successfully led international teams and managed third party vendors and partners across the globe. Thanks in part to his baptism-by-fire experiences as a youth, he is undaunted by the unfamiliarity of a project or its magnitude.

Sunil earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India and his master's degree in computer science from the University of Iowa. He earned his MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business while working as a product manager at Intel, applying his training hands-on and owning the process for the deployment of the first internal blog site serving Intel employees. Sunil developed several patents during stints at Intel and Microsoft.

Sunil's interests outside his career are as diverse as his professional skills. He is an accomplished singer with a range that extends from Indian classical to Western choral music. A budding chef specializing in vegetarian cuisines, he has catered dinner parties for groups of friends numbering upwards of 100. Sunil is a firm believer in Gandhi's teaching to "be the change you want to see in the world" and has made leading by example an integral part of his work and style. He regularly volunteers for Habit for Humanity and Nature Consortium and coordinates soup kitchens for homeless shelters. Sunil has also served as a board member of Trikone-Northwest, an organization that supports, empowers and affirms the South Asian LGBTQ community throughout the region.
