Some people gain courage and confidence under fire. Not Randy Von Feldt. He gained his under water. Randy, practice director of ACME’s San Francisco office, was a high school swimmer in a small town in southern Minnesota. Okay, it wasn’t exactly Olympic competition. So when an opportunity arose to move in with relatives in Southern California and compete against a better pool of talent, he said…“What, are you crazy?!” Then he gulped and dived in. It was a life-changing, character-building experience – one he has since repeated numerous times in many other arenas. His undergraduate career put Randy in one of the country’s most competitive academic pools: Stanford. He emerged with a B.S. in industrial engineering and engineering management and went to work for Accenture, where he spent almost 10 years. As a senior manager, he led teams on a wide range of complex projects for Apple, Informix, Packard Bell, Gateway and Sun Microsystems. Then came another challenge Randy could not pass up: the chance to build an e-commerce consulting company and surf the glorious dot-com wave. As general manager and vice president of global operations, Randy helped the company (Scient) grow from three employees to more than 2,000 and was instrumental in business development, managing client engagements, recruiting employees and opening offices worldwide. Randy continued his career in some seriously competitive pools– first at Acumen Sciences, a startup biotech and health care research firm, and then at Frank, Rimerman & Company, where he led the department that provided IT strategy consulting, program management and business process improvement for clients. Randy is now applying his insight and experience to the benefit of our San Francisco office and Bay Area clients. In a way, it’s a position he’s been training for since he took that brave first step west. |
