John Rush

John Rush builds bridges. He's been over a few, as well. Of course, this all sounds very Portland, but when we talk about John’s bridges, we’re speaking in metaphors. When John leads an engagement, he doesn’t just leap the chasms that represent each project milestone. Rather, he builds a bridge so that those who follow – weeks, months, or even years later – can travel smoothly over potential obstacles with ease, moving on to address the next challenge. Most obviously a bridge builder connects things. John considers mentoring, teaching, and leaving behind a clear and durable path to success the complete and proper method of spanning any divide.

John graduated Cum Laude in Economics from Whitman College and with honors for his MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. Deloitte Consulting was his life for the 8 years between ‘92 and ‘00 where he progressed from a staff consultant to manager, working on a wide variety of projects from third-party liability for the state of Alaska, to profitability assessment for electric utilities, to market entry projects in telecommunications and shop floor manufacturing in the aerospace industry. For some new flavor, and a chance to sit on the other side of the table, John jumped to the client-side working for Metstream Communications managing their operational support systems, and then to PacifiCorp, where he successfully managed a massive, complex, multi-state project.

John carries his bridge-building ethos outside of work as well, doing volunteer work for SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) both as a member of the SMART Portland Metro Leadership Council and as a volunteer reader. John loves cycling, running and tennis, and he lives in Portland, his hometown, with his family.
