You could make a case that the world is a better place thanks to Auctionpay, Inc. This fast-growing startup serves the vast and expanding market of nonprofit organizations, providing business tools and services that help them successfully achieve their mission. Of course, it takes more than a conscience to succeed as a nonprofit – it also takes money.

By streamlining the auction transaction process used at fundraising events, Auctionpay has helped improve and expand charitable giving. That’s a good thing. But it has also resulted in the self-fulfilling prophecy that rapid growth often creates: inability to keep up. Significant growth and additions to the product mix could not be supported by Auctionpay’s existing business infrastructure. Future growth was limited, as well.

The white elephant in the room was how to smoothly transition business processes and systems from humble roots to a highly efficient mature organization. Evolution isn’t easy. After a good hard look at the elephant, Auctionpay called ACME.

That call and subsequent discussions revealed the need to evolve Auctionpay’s business in several ways. ACME formed an initiative in which the primary goals were to:

  • Provide the Sales, Client Services, and Finance divisions with a single view of the client contact environment – reducing internal miscommunication and duplicate entry of client information.
  • Automate their sales to cash process, reducing the need for manual involvement with client transactions as they flow between departments.

Together, ACME and Auctionpay investigated, brainstormed and ultimately articulated a precise problem statement. The project team then developed a future vision of how the client’s entire enterprise would optimally function. The success and working chemistry of the early phases of Auctionpay’s business evolution led to an engagement with ACME working on Financial and CRM software selection as well as creating the complete project plan.

The result of this collaborative, well-designed enterprise transition? Auctionpay is now on the path to higher productivity and expanded business potential – and, in turn, delivering great results for a growing customer base of nonprofits. In short, the elephant has been removed.
